In between working on my income taxes this week, I stumbled upon moments of beauty and carved out time to either create it or capture it. Let’s get into it.
My space at Moonflower Studios.
Underpaintings. I like to embed words into the canvas before I start a painting. This week, I started five new ones.
Note to self: Make More Art.
I write a gratitude list every day. It has changed the way I see + experience the world.
This month, in the Ray of Light Community, our theme is BEHOLD: see or observe (a thing or person, especially a remarkable or impressive one). Me + my shadow.
This is a house in my neighborhood that I walk or drive past every day. I like to imagine it’s mine + that it’s in the french countryside where I spend the summers. A girl can dream, right?
Catching a light show in the spare bedroom. I put my disco ball in the window + around 10 am, I get a light show!
I’m trying to walk 5,000 steps a day around the neighborhood. It turns out that Miso (aka: Fred) likes to join me/us on our strolls around the block. No leash. Just follows us for about a 10 minutes. It’s the cutest thing.
The Oakland Vintage Flea Market did not disappoint this weekend. It takes place on the first Saturday of the month.
Narrative, a new vintage emporium opened up next door to the market. It’s 15,000 square feet of vintage furniture (no clothing) and I just about lost my mind! I scored a beautiful teak serving tray + new chair for the studio. This camera caught my eye, too. It’s open daily, so I won’t have to wait to go once a month. Lucky me.
Rain and hail hit us hard on Thursday, but the Meyer lemons didn’t mind.
I found a new bakery around the corner from my studio in Berkeley. I foresee a possible problem here.
Beautiful signage at Nest Yoga in Piedmont. I attended my first-ever Y12SR class + loved it.
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat all week - while walking, painting, writing. It’s been incredibly soothing + the video is really meditative. It’s become a sort of mantra. A sweet note-to-self, reminding me to slow down.
We still have a few spots available for my alcohol-free retreat in Italy this Fall. You can learn more about it here. We will be hosting a call in the near future to answer any questions you might have. Last year was incredible + I can’t wait to do it all over again. Join me. I promise it will be the trip of a lifetime. Only shared rooms available at this time. The single rooms are already sold out!
Until next week, I am…
Creatively yours,
Tammi
